CAIRO: The Lebanese army said a fire that erupted in the waste landfill area of Beirut Port has been extinguished.
The site contained mixed waste including scrapped timber and tyres.
The fire comes as the city remains nervous after a devastating explosion at the port last month killed at least 200 people and injured more than 5,000.
